Pandemic Wedding

Rosewood Miramar Beach Hotel, Montecito, California

March 27, 2021

With COVID-19 hitting the whole world since the beginning of 2020 and after a year of Safer-at-home order in California, it was certainly a pleasant surprise to be notified of our nephew's wedding! With the rules and regulations put out by the state, an indoor church wedding would be out of the question. They had to plan around on whatever guidelines they had to follow. It ended up that the wedding would be held at a beachfront hotel in the Santa Barbara area, with a maximum of 40 guests. There would be no dinner reception except for the immediate family. Everything had to be done outdoor and still with social distancing in place.

The morning of the wedding, we left the house in our motorhome as we planned on going to Cachuma Lake for camping after the wedding since we would be in the area already. Traffic was ridiculously bad with accidents everywhere on the way. By the time we got to the hotel, it was right at the beginning of the wedding but we had problems parking the motorhome even with their valet service. Finally, the valet manager took us to the back street where we were parked with a special permit which turned out to be perfect for us. We just had to get into the hotel from the side door and by the time we got to the wedding it was almost half way done. At least we were there!

What a beautiful wedding it was! Everything went well and we were definitely happy for the newly wed. The weather was perfect for this spring day and the whole ambiance was just lovely! Most senior family members were fully vaccinated by then, making this event a little safer for all.

Dinner reception was only for the bride and groom's immediate family since big group gathering was not allowed. All the guests were given a gift card to a nice seaside restaurant where we can enjoy a fancy dinner at our own convenience. A very thoughtful arrangement under the circumstances. They are also planning a traditional banquet when this pandemic is over and when it is safe for everyone.

A perfect day for the perfect couple! May the Lord bless their marriage with never ending joy and love!

"Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trust, always hopes, always perseveres. Love never fails."   -- I Corinthians 13:4~8
