Best Seafood Rice in Okinawa

2023 Spring Asia Cruises I - Holland America Westerdam Singapore to Yokohama
March 9, 2023 (Thursday) - Naha, Okinawa, Japan

Westerdam docked in time and we were off the ship after our breakfast at the MDR. Unfortunately, the bureaucracy continues as we exit the terminal building, with inspection of passports once again, and going through security check. It was possibly an hour delay of our time.

Once we were down and outside the terminal building, we walked to the beach and the shrine across the street. We already knew our way around so we had no problem getting there.

Outside the terminal building walking into town.

The little Naminoue Beach near port.

Naminoue Shrine, just a walk up the hill from the beach.

Main entrance of the shrine.

Then we walked to Fo Zhou (Fukushuen) Garden, which is still very pretty. It is a surprise that even in a small space like this, they were able to build such a beautiful garden. We really enjoyed our time there! Entrance fee to this garden is just 200Y. Worth every penny!

After Fo Zhou Garden, we walked to the monorail station near the Prefectural Office downtown, bought the one-day pass for 800Y and took the train to find lunch. We went off at station #2, which is just one station before the airport, then walked about 8 minutes to the seafood restaurant. It was only 11:20 but the place was already full, so we had to wait for another half hour before seats were available. This restaurant is known among locals and have great seafood bowls with plenty of fresh fish. We were definitely surprised by the price of food here. A wonderful meal indeed.

What a beautiful bowl of seafood rice!

This has to be the best seafood rice we had. Highly recommending this place if in the area.

Then we took the monorail back to Koukusai street and wandering around, bought some medicines and snacks before taking the monorail back to the prefecture office area and walked back to port.

Koukusai--the busiest and touristy part of the city.

Found something new, some kind of cheese-filled cake.

It was not a difficult walk but for the auntie I bet it was a killing walk. I believe we walked about 5.4 miles today.

Back to the cruise port.

Goodbye, Naha! Hope to see you again, soon!

Dinner was as usual in the MDR. It’s always nice running into our tour group members on the ship. We had two great days traveling together and soon we will be on our separate ways.
