Jet Blue economy to CX First Class

(Please read this post from the bottom to the top. I didn't know how this works and did it the wrong way.)

Champagne, pajamas, amenity kit, ready to go.

This is the personal closet. I can only see MOR's feet sticking out from his suite.

Look at the leg space! That's the ottoman where another person can be at if dining together.

My seat 1A, sinfully big.

Alex, one of the first-class cabin flight attendants, urged us to have a picture together to celebrate the special flight.

Seat 1A

Shanghai Tang pajamas, we both got the 'small' size and it was a little tight for MOR. Comfortable name-brand pajamas.

First class tickets

Boarding the plane was easy. No lines, no hassle. We were ushered to our seats right at the nose of the plane. Pre-flight champagne offered as we waited for the rest of the passengers to complete the boarding process.

Cathay signature won-ton noodle. Yummy! The won-tons were especially tasty.

Noodle Bar--empty now but it was packed later on that night.

Inside the Cathay lounge at SFO. We were one of the first to get in so it was very quiet. For some reason, the shower facilities were not available so there were some very disappointed passengers that evening.

Cathay lounge at SFO. We had to wait outside because the door was locked. It did not open until close to 9:30. Things were not ready inside due to lack of staff. Four people called in sick and the person in charge got called in at the last minute. She kept apologizing the whole time we were there.

One of the vintage photos of Cathay Pacific hanging outside the lounge area. This one shows the old Kai Tak Airport--so different from what it is today. Brought back a lot of memories.

The very empty check-in counters. It was not suppose to open until 9:00pm. They finally opened at around 8:30 with one check-in attendant. I guess because we didn't look like First class passengers in the first class line, the attendant just waved us over to the counter. Once she realized that we truly were in the right line, we were treated VIP style. She stepped outside of the counter, handed us our boarding passes and lounge invitations with both hands and a big smile, and wishing us a good flight.

Arriving San Francisco International Airport nine hours before the next flight to Hong Kong, a long layover indeed. It was raining heavily outside so we decided instead of going out and explore as planned we would just stay put and wait inside the airport for our midnight flight. Did we have a long wait!

Leaving Long Beach Airport.

We began our journey to Asia from the tiny little airport in Long Beach. We were to fly to San Francisco to catch our flight to Hong Kong on Cathay Pacific First Class. This was a once in a lifetime experience that we were so excited about. Never in our minds that we would one day be flying first class. Thank goodness for points and mileage, our dreams came true.

Our first leg of the trip was flying Jet Blue to San Francisco. Of course, no first class here. Personal TV on the Jet Blue plane was good enough for us. Our plane was delayed flying in to Long Beach because of bad weather in San Francisco. Jet Blue is one of my favorite airlines because of the free check bag policy. Long Beach Airport is also great comparing to the massive LAX. Easy traffic and short security lines can't be beat.
