Gold Mind Tour
After visiting the pipeline,we headed over to the El Dorado Gold Mine where we had an adventure into the gold fields of the interior. The tour started with a little train ride that took us through a permafrost tunnel as well as a mining camp.
Then we were given a short course in gold mining and demonstration of gold panning. At this point it started raining and ponchos were given out to all as we watched the interesting demonstration.
Gold!
We were also given a chance to pan for gold! All of us got something to take home with.
For those who wanted to have their gold finds made into jewelry they were able to have them done in the gift shop. Others can shop or have some hot chocolate, coffee and cookies before heading back out to the train.
