Amsterdam

(back to the conclusion of our Baltic cruise on the Carnival Splendor 2008)

7/24/2008 -- Amsterdam, Netherlands
We woke up particularly early just so we could watch the ship going through the locks and waterways into Amsterdam. The balcony cabin that we just moved into was definitely a nice touch as we sailed into port.

Look carefully at this picture!

As we moved closer to port, we went up to the bow of the ship just so we could see the whole view as the Splendor entering the city. The ship made a 360 degree turn before docking at the terminal.

We walked around the city from the port.

Seemed to be a very crowded day in Amsterdam.

We did not make reservation and did not get to go inside.

Waiting to take the boat ride.

one of the many house boats

It's a HOHO type of boat ride but with so many people waiting at each stopping point, we dare not getting off the boat.

We could see the cruise ships at the port.

A floating restaurant

After getting off near the train station, we just walked back to the cruise terminal. We could have changed to another boat for the ride back there but we decided to just enjoy the easy walk back.

Back to our cabin

Looking at Amsterdam cruise terminal from our balcony, very modern. They also have free internet access at the port but they only had one computer, so it could be a long wait.

Leaving port

We had to pack up tonight because we will have to disembark the ship tomorrow.
