Star Alliance Lounge LAX

A Trip to Australia, New Zealand, and Taiwan, March 15 to April 12, 2014

We have travelled to many parts of the world but never to the southern hemisphere. To say the least, we were very excited and planned well ahead for this month-long journey. A cruise was booked, we thought, reward plane tickets redeemed, then found out our travel agent did not pay for the cruise before the prices went up. Fortunately, we were able to use CruiseCompete and successfully grabbed two cabins at their original prices, thanks to Ms. Kittson of Expedia Cruiseship Centers, we were set to go.

This trip will cover Australia, New Zealand, and Taiwan using our USAir miles with one stopover in between. We also had a one-night forced layover in Incheon, South Korea. This begins the report of our amazing trip...

Our flight was to leave LAX at 12:50pm, and we arrived at the airport around 10:00am. Check-in was smooth at the First Class counter (we were in Business Class) with a very nice young man. Had to show our Australia visas. We were instructed to go to the shorter line for security check probably because of being Business class passengers and we got through easily.

Star Alliance Lounge LAX
The new Star Alliance Lounge at the Tom Bradley Terminal is located on the 6th floor. Comfortable and spacious, much much better than the old one. We tried to find seatings out on the balcony but that seems to be a popular place so we ended up at this quiet corner in a private room off the lounge entrance.

A bigger room just next to the smaller private room.

yogurt, fruits and some breakfast items

noodle bar--more like pho type of soup base and you add your own ingredients

a choice of regular egg noodle and glass noodle

main seating area

Not bad!
Breakfast food was replaced by lunch items at 12:00, mostly salads and wraps.

Soon we found an empty table out on the balcony and moved to this open area where we had an excellent view of the main hall and the Asian restaurant one level below.

At around 12:10 it was time for us to go to the gate for boarding. This lounge provided us with a relaxing start on our long flights to Sydney.
