Day 1, A Mini Vacation to Morro Bay, California -- October 14, 2015
After a very busy couple of months planning and holding the joint revival meetings which ended this past weekend, we thought it would be a good idea to go on a short trip to unwind and relax a little away from home. Morro Bay in the Central coast of California was our pick. We have passed through Morro Bay many times when we took Highway 1 up to Northern California in previous years but never had a chance to stop there. With a couple of free hotel nights that we accumulated through hotels.com, this makes for a cost effective trip.
We had to stop at a few places before getting on the road like meeting with our accountant, post office, etc. By the time we were ready to hit the road it was close to noon. Just so we didn't have to stop for lunch somewhere, we bought some delicious sandwiches from Vince's Deli in Pasadena to eat in the car to save time. Traffic was OK on this day all the way from San Gabriel Valley to Highway 101.

Arrived at our first hotel in Morro Bay--Pacific Shores Inn. This is a budget motel with good reviews.
Great location being just a couple of blocks from Embarcadero and a block from Main Street.
It's just a basic motel type room.
The problem was there's no A/C in the room, which made it stuffy inside and the windows are facing the hallway with people passing by.

That's the hotel! Ocean view is if you keep your curtains opened and on the 3rd floor.
We were on the 2nd floor. There's no elevator either.
After settling in, we went for a walk down to the Embarcadero.

We ended up having dinner here, Hofbrau, which received many good reviews online.
Staff were very friendly and helpful. A German style restaurant famous for their beef dip and seafood.
Great clam chowder! Creamy and delicious.
Combo seafood with two pieces of fish, two pieces of calamari, and some fried clam stripes with french fries.
Fish and chips--hot and flaky. Not the best but really good. (We still think the Bowpicker in Astoria, Oregon serves the best fish and chips.)
