Lisbon

cont. Carnival Splendor 2008--Genoa to Dover

7/5/2008--Sea Day
A day to relax and enjoy the amenities on board.

Too windy for miniature golf.

7/6/2008 Lisbon, Portugal
The tug boats greeted us with this as we sailed into port. They really celebrated our arrival.

A band was playing as we walked off and baseball caps were given out as souvenirs.

We joined a private tour with other cruisecritic members for our day in port.
Belem Tower

The Cathedral near the port.

Right next to the Cathedral is this famous Portuguese Egg Tart shop. There was a long line outside but we walked right in to the back of the restaurant with our tour guide.

Hot, fresh authentic Portugese egg tart for 1 Euro each. They called them "cakes".

We could see how they were making the egg tarts.

Afterwards we headed out to Sintra, a touristy, busy little town.

Our tour guide. He had been to Hong Kong and Macau many times.

Such beautiful weather!

Then we drove to Cabo da Roca, the westernmost point of continental Europe.

NATO Headquarters, I believe.

Back on board. For the next two day, 7/7 and 7/8, we just enjoyed the sea days. The weather turned a little cool and windy. Not much outdoor activities could be done. The ship had to put the retractable dome on so people can still enjoy the pool and spa even in cold weather.

Received some nice gifts from the cruise director, John Heald.

Circles, circles, everywhere!
