A Fine Sunday in Seattle

August 18, 2013

We rested on Friday but attended a fellowship at a Chinese church in Federal Way in the evening.
Saturday was resting in the Tjandra's house and then picking Christian up from the airport.

Sunday morning we attended Sunday service at the Auburn Community Center near the house. Then we went to Seattle to meet with the rest of the family at Ivar's.

Just snapped a quick picture before the service started.

Sunday Brunch at Ivar's
Ivar's is one of my favorite restaurants in Seattle and their Sunday brunch buffet is incredible. For around $30 pp. you can enjoy all their flavorful seafood including crabs, shrimps, oysters, clams, you name it. Their prime rib is not too shabby either. We celebrated our 30th Anniversary here three years ago and really enjoyed the food and the view here at this restaurant.

My first plate, prime rib and crabs.

Lake Union and Gas Works Park
After the fabulous buffet lunch, Ines and Jon took us to the Gas Works Park nearby. The weather was great and many people were enjoying the park on this Sunday afternoon.

Beautiful sight of the Space Needle

The hill in the background is said to be an artificial hill created from construction rubble covered with topsoil. A popular spot to watch fireworks.

This 20-acre plant was built in 1906 to manufacture gas from coal.

We thought this was a submarine. It didn't look anything like a regular boat from far away.

Hiram M. Chittenden Locks and Carl S. English Botanical Garden
It's fascinating to watch the parade of boats along the lock walls as they travel between the Puget Sound and Lake Washington. We were here four years ago and I had wanted to come back. By the way, it is free to visit this place. There is a fish ladder on the other side of the dam also.

We had a wonderful day in Seattle!
