Guangzhou $99 Tour -- Day 4 Panyu

Day 4 -- November 18, 2014 Panyu

Panyu is the city where my ancestors came from but I have never had a chance to visit this part of Guangzhou before. With a day here on this tour plus a couple more days afterwards staying with friends, I got to have a better understanding of this city. I have answered "Panyu" thousands of times when asked about my place of origin throughout my life. And now actually set foot on it made it so much more meaningful even though we do not have any known relatives living here.

Early morning street vendors of an outdoor market.

"Garden of the Precious Ink" 寶墨園
This was the highlight of our tour, in my opinion. We spent a couple of hours here, leisurely strolling around this beautiful garden on our own after a brief introduction by the tour guide. On our itinerary, this garden was described as one of the most beautiful gardens in China. I can see why.

At the entrance of the garden.

Main gate

Big, fat, colorful koi.

Wax museum with characters from ancient Chinese novels.

Quite an impressive display.

Absolutely gorgeous!

Ceramic wall tiles

The gigantic 'precious ink' inside the glass case.

The room dedicated for the 'precious ink'.

One more picture before we leave this place.

Then we were taken to this bee farm in the country for another sale talk. A visit to a factory specializing in 'bamboo charcoal' products also took place that afternoon.

Passing by the Guangzhou TV Tower.

Our hotel for the next two nights.

Modern and sleek design...

...but dark and small.

Do not remember the name of this place.
