Guangzhou $99 Tour -- Day 3 Zhongshan, Zhuhai

Day 3 - November 17, 2014 - Zhongshan and Zhuhai

After spending a restful night at the hotel, we woke up to prepare for another day of tour in the cities of Zhongshan and Zhuhai. These cities are very close to Macau and are popular places for overseas Chinese to spend their retirement after living years in foreign countries. It was nice not having to pack and leave since we will be returning to the same hotel for the night.

Views of the city from our window.

After breakfast we were dropped off at the town center for some free time. Most of us went shopping...for more suitcases. We actually found out that it is much cheaper buying suitcases in the U.S. (Costco) than in China.

Next stop, the tea shop. This tea shop bears the same name as the one we visited in Kunming last year. They actually operated the same way, selling overpriced Pu-er tea. We spent about two hours in there!

After the tea shop, the tour guide went and got 'Portuguese Egg Tarts' for everyone. These egg tarts were on the list of 'gourmet' items on the itinerary.

The egg tarts were good because they were fresh, hot off the oven. Personally, I don't think they were comparable to the real 'cakes' we had at the Pasteis de Belem in Lisbon.

Next shopping stop is the foot massage place. The foot massage was complimentary as they tried to sell various kinds of medicines to the group.

Entrance to the foot massage place.

Finally, some sight seeing. We took the chair lifts up to the hill of a park where we were able to enjoy some beautiful scenery.

We could see Macau not too far away.

Driving along the waterfront.

quite windy

This stone statue was one of the 'sights' on our itinerary. This was all I got from the bus! Oh well...

Random shots as we drove around the city.

a new residential complex

One of the mandatory entertainment program, we went to this excellent show.

It was better than expected.

Back to the hotel room to enjoy the famous local clay-roasted chicken that we ordered through the guide. Delicious! A great way to end our day!
