Fun and Food on 4th Sea Day

NCL Getaway Transatlantic, Day 5

As we were approaching closer to our first port of call, we were still trying to get into the swing of things on board this giant ship. There were still a lot of places we haven't been and many activities we have not participated. We have been taking it easy since we knew that we still have many days ahead of us, little did we know how many more days...

The constant time changes really threw us off and we have missed most breakfast each morning. I got up at around 9 this morning and the guys were up at around 10:45. We have made arrangements to meet for lunch at O'Sheehan's today at 11:30. Before that, I went to watch the cruise critic roll-call horse racing held at the meeting rooms set aside for the group on a daily basis. It was a lot of fun!

Cruise Director Silas volunteered to be the announcer of the race and he provided quite a few prizes for the winners.

There were six various 'horses' participated in the race.

Those who wished were able to put in their $5 bets on the horse they think may win.

It was really a lot of fun!

O'Sheehan's, the 24-Hour Neighborhood Pub

This pub that serves great food is available almost 24 hours a day. It's like the Blue Lagoon on some NCL ships with a twist. I was surprised to see the line when we got there. I think it's better not to go to these places right at the time of them opening up. Among the seven of us, we almost ordered everything on the menu which turned out to be too much food. Then the waiter delivered food that we didn't order so we had much more than we wanted.

Shepherd's Pie, not bad, serving size was a little too much.

Country Soup, excellent! Very much like the corn-beef soup we usually make for St. Patrick's Day.

After lunch, we needed to walk off the calories we just put on. We walked along deck 7 and deck 8 and then to the shopping area on deck 8 where they had the name-brand handbags for sale, 50% off! I almost bought a Kate Spade bag but decided against it after all. Yielded to temptation.

Good place to relax.

Afternoon was spent resting in the cabin again. With the big aft balcony, we really enjoyed staying inside and just chill-out in our cabin away from everybody.

Cagney's

We made dinner reservation for 7:45 at Cagney's tonight. We were seated quickly as we arrived. Cagney's is the steak house on the ship, one of the specialty restaurants with add-on charges. It's A La Cart menu but since we had the ultimate dining package we were told that we could each order an appetizer, one soup or salad, one entree, two sides, and one dessert. I have read that others have ordered multiple items from the menu on other ships, but that was what we were told on the Getaway.

Cagney's is on the aft of deck 8, right across from Moderno with a bar between the two.

We enjoyed a great dinner in Cagney's tonight. By the time we finished dinner it was past 10:00pm. Back to our cabin for the night and another time change!
