Wulai, Taipei

Taipei-Wulai--April 11, 2014

There is this very popular breakfast eatery in Taipei that we wanted to go again. It's called 滬杭(阜杭). It's just one MRT stop away from our hotel so we decided to just walk there. Last time when we were in Taipei we did not get to eat there because it was closed. To get there, take the MRT to the Shantao Temple stop (善導寺站), take exit 5. Right next to that exit is a building (華山市場) go through the main entrance and up to the second floor. It's like a food court type of set up. Prepare to wait in the long line...

Window looking out the street from the second floor of the building.

A very busy place.

The line was super long that day.

but it was all worth it!
Savory soy-milk

Fried dough and baked sesame bread, yum!
I suggest getting the 'thick' sesame bread, it was very different. This is the 'thin' one.

Fresh, hot, and crispy!

Look at the line!

The line went all the way back down to the ground floor. Tourists and locals alike joining in the food find.

After that delicious breakfast, we went to look for this...baked pepper/pork bun. The best there is! They don't open until like 11:30am.

It is located at the corner of NanHai Road and Lin Sen South Road.

Our next stop, the aboriginal village of Wu Lai, in the mountain area of Taipei.

It was kind of quiet because it was a weekday.

Taking the cable car up to the resort.

It was just us and a couple of tourists from Europe.

Beautiful butterflies resting on the walls

After the refreshing walk we were ready to go back to town.

We were talked into taking a taxi up to the cable car station by the driver when we were walking to the Log Cart station when we were in town earlier. Now we need to purchase tickets for the Cart to go back to town.

It was kind of fun riding this log cart. I remember when we were here forty some years ago, the cart was just a very simple open-top 'chair' that rolled down the hill and it was man-powered.

Walking down from the log cart station to town. Those are the taxis that tried to get people to go with them to the cable car stop.

People taking dips in the river.

On our way back to Taipei we stopped at 'Green River' 碧潭.

It was so hot that we did not stay long there.

Dinner was buffet at a very nice hotel back in Taipei on Chongshan N. Road.

A perfect ending to a fun day.
