Grand Turk

34-Day Cross Country RV Trip + 7-Day Caribbean Cruise 2022
Day 22: Grand Turk
May 19, 2022

Today we had to start early and the ship went into port before 6:00 as I was getting up. I could see the beautiful beach and it was certainly amazing. The sky was a little cloudy but did not ruin the beautiful scene in front of us.

Docking into Grand Turk.

Towel animals morning on the Lido deck.

After breakfast at the Lido (I wanted to try the biscuit and chicken and sausage biscuit from Big Chicken), we got ready for shore at around 8:00.

Again, Caribbean Princess was docked right beside us.

Walked to the Carnival private beach area.

First, passing through the duty-free stores.

This is a very nice area with plenty of shops and entertainment.

We went outside to the taxi stand area, straight to the gate where we found the tram tour people.

For $25 per person, we joined the two-hour tour visiting some sights on this island.

Gate to the private beach area. Tours, golf cart rentals, etc. are all available outside of this gate.

Golf carts for rent, I believe they went for $100 a day.

Leaving the port area on our tram. We had the back seats with an amazing view.

First, we drove by the Apollo replica outside of the airport.

They do not have big hotels or resorts on this island. Most hotels are small, locally run.

Driving through the narrow streets that's quaint and quiet.

Beautiful sights everywhere we looked.

A beach that we went past.

We made a couple of stops for pictures before reaching 'downtown'.

Now, we stopped at downtown for a walk. There are only a few shops and restaurants here selling souvenirs and food.

Shops in the downtown area.

Our tram parked across from here but not sure what this building is.

On our way from downtown to the lighthouse, we saw all these goats.

Behind us was a tour of ATVs zooming by.

Lighthouse

Cost $3 to enter so we just took a picture outside instead.

Here is the famous donkeys gathering place.

They all came to check us out, and looking for food. The tram driver pour some water for the donkeys on this hot sunny day.

Sorry, we did not bring food!

Leaving the lighthouse.

Some random shots on our way back to port.

I suppose we have hit all the highlights of this island.

A colorful sign of Grand Turk but nobody wanted to get off for a photo. This will be good enough.

Passing by the airport one more time before getting back to port.

It was around 11:30 by the time we got back to the port gate. It was a short tour but still a fun day exploring the island.

We then spent about an hour at the private beach. It was very relaxing just enjoying the scenery and a Mango Tango from Margaritaville on this hot and humid day. It was good that the lounge chairs were free to use but the clam shells needed to pay a rental fee.

It was a great way to enjoy the beach, swimming so close to the cruise ship in the clear, blue water.

As for us, just watching everyone having fun was good enough.

What a day we had in this port! A simple way to enjoy life!
We also bought some rum cakes and souvenir here to take home.

Back on the ship we had a late lunch of Guy's Burger. Yummy!

It was the second formal night at the main dining room. We had a late lunch today so we pushed our dining time back a little later and it worked out well for us.

Another delicious meal!

Good night!
Two sea days and we should be back in port.
