Getaway Transatlantic Day 2 - At Sea

I suppose we were all very tired preparing for this trip, none of us got up before 10 this morning. The relaxing atmosphere on a cruise ship and the gentle waves kind of rocked us like a baby in the cradle. Taking away all the stress and anxiety of running around and getting ourselves to the ship on previous days. Now that we are on the ship, we would just relax and enjoy what is in stored for us...or would we?

With six sea days straight between Miami and our first port of call, we knew that we could just take this opportunity to enjoy all the activities and amenities on board this mega ship. We were happy just to be able to totally relax in our cabin, away from phone calls and daily chores and do whatever we wish in the next few days.

Ship route, weather, time were shown on the ship information channel on TV 24-hour a day.

Having a late breakfast at the Lido. I thought this buffet restaurant was nicely designed with service counters on both sides of the restaurant. Plenty of tables for everyone which rarely seem crowded.

Cruise Critic Meet and Greet

Cruise Critic Roll-call meet and greet was scheduled at 11:00 at the main restaurant--Tropicana. This was the biggest meet and greet that I have attended with over 200 very active roll-callers signed up and showed up. The captain and his officers attended. Refreshments provided. A good start of the cruise!

Our afternoon was spent mostly resting and getting ourselves comfortable in our cabin. We were able to book our specialty dining at Le Bistro which we had to change later on and never got another available slot throughout the 16-day voyage. One disappointment but we got over it.

We did walk around the ship a little and I already felt that this ship could be too big for me. 

For dinner tonight, we went to Tropicana at an earlier time of 5:30. The line was much shorter and we were seated at the port side this time with Nelson as our server. His assistant was a pretty young woman from Thailand whom I did not get the name of.  She was attentive and pleasant but we never saw her again for the rest of the cruise. We liked Nelson a lot and requested to be with him every time we dined at Tropicana. Not always successful but we tried. Back to the cabin the first of many towel animals was waiting for us. Tonight we had to set the clock an hour forward again.

Someone said since day 1 they noticed there were mechanical problems on the starboard side of the ship just looking at the wake. I am not an expert in that area but wondering if this picture tells anything.

Anyway, to sum it up, we had a relaxing day on this first sea day and continued expecting an enjoyable journey on this huge ship for days to come.
