Natural History Tour--Denali National Park

The next morning, we woke up to a beautiful day. We enjoyed a breakfast buffet at the Princess Lodge. Food was plentiful and I believe we paid around $14pp. It was a huge dining hall where we sat with other customers on long tables. Films of Denali Park was shown on a giant screen while we were eating.
After breakfast, we still had time to walk around the grounds before our tour and it was certainly beautiful.

Across the street is a row of buildings with stores and restaurants. You can see the Subway where we got our sandwiches the day before. The Salmon Bake is at the far end to the right.

The tour that was included in our package was called the Natural History Tour which is a basic general introduction to the history, culture, and wildlife of the park.We were first taken to the WAC to watch a movie about the park. Then we stopped at the Savage Cabin where we learned about more history of the park.

The spikes on the windows were to prevent animals from entering the building.

This time we took the beige color bus because it was a guided tour. Actually the shuttle driver also made commentary while driving, so I don't see anything difference between the two. There was no TV monitors on either bus so there was really no difference. This tour only goes just a little pass the check-point so it might not be a good option for viewing wildlife but it was included.

A native guide gave a talk about the park at Primrose Ridge.

After the tour, we came back to the lodge for lunch. Lynx Creek is part of the Princess Lodge and they have delicious pizzas for a reasonable price. Waiting time was a little long but the pizzas were fresh and tasty.

Last walk on the grounds. The building with the red roof entrance is the dining hall where we had breakfast.
