Back to Venice early in the morning after spending two weeks on the NCL Gem. It's always difficult to leave a cruise ship!
Taking the People Mover which cost 1 euro pp for a 3minute ride. You still have to walk from the port to the People Mover which was like 15 minutes. After getting off the People Mover, we still needed to walk to the train station and cross that dreadful bridge. I am curious as to why they built a bridge with steps instead of ramps there. It was not an easy task to cross that bridge tagging all the luggage with us.
At the People Mover station.
Now, we are at the train station. We bought our tickets the week before for the Eurostar that leaves at 11:30 to Florence.
The train ride from Venice to Florence was about two hours.
Our hotel in Florence, the Pierre Hotel, very close to the Duomo.
Our view from the room.
Outside of the hotel as we were heading out to lunch.
Lunch was at an outdoor cafe at the piazza Della Republica.
It was very hot outdoor.
That was where we ate.
Duomo
Getting in the long line at the Academia Museum of Biblical Art to see
Michaelangelo’s “David”.
Another neat door knob.
Cooling off with an ice cream.
Dinner at a restaurant recommended by the hotel. We ended up having dinner here two days in a row.
We liked this restaurant so much that we came back again in 2015 when we cruised on the NCL Jade.
Parione Trattoria
(Via del Parione, 74/76 R-Via Della Vigna Nuova, 17-50123 Firenze, Italy)
Lobster spaghetti, 18 Euros
We sat at a table in the wine cellar.
What a nice ending to a day!
