Short trip to Seattle and Back

Taking a little detour from the Europe trip. We took a brief trip to Seattle again last week to pick up Christian who spent the last two months there. It was exhausting but still a fun trip.

Driving on Fwy 5

Grapevine

The drive was easy since it was Labor Day, hardly any traffic. We stopped briefly in Sacramento to get gas and had lunch at the McDonald's. Then continue driving to Redding. We spent the night at the Thunderbird Lodge in downtown Redding. A nice surprise. This motel is actually very nice for the price.

Room was clean and updated.

Even though it is in the downtown area, we felt very safe.

Dinner was at the Cattlemen's Steakhouse. They had their Monday night special--$16.99 Prime rib dinner. They serve Harris Ranch meat.

Dinner came with the all-you-can-eat salad with individual dressing of your choice.

Warm sour dough

Beans that came with the dinner. Their mashed potato was excellent too!

Breakfast the next morning was very basic but included in the room rate.

Traffic jam in Portland

When we arrived Seattle it was pretty late. We immediately went out to the Vietnamese restaurant for dinner.

The next morning we woke up to a nice, warm day.

We took a walk around the neighborhood of Lakeland.

In the afternoon we went to see the house that Jonny was working on.

Jonny is really doing a great job turning this house around.

Then we had a sushi/seafood buffet at the Blue Fin north of Seattle.

After spending one day in Seattle we headed back to L.A.

Passing Portland one more time. Of course with a stop at the Pacific Pie Company again.

We did not get to Corning, California until around 9:30pm. and spent the night at the Inn, a very nice hotel that included a breakfast buffet at the casino next door.

Before noon, we arrived Sacramento area. Got gas at the Costco and then continue driving. We wanted to eat lunch at the popular Black Bear Diner and found one in Manteca.

MOR's trout plate

My club sandwich which I only finished half of.

After lunch we continued our drive home.
