We arrived at Ketchikan on Thursday. First thing we did was paying a visit to the visitor center to pick up some maps and get information on local buses. We have been to Ketchikan three times before, so we are kind of familiar with Creek Street and the area around the dock. This time we wanted to try taking the bus to Totem Bight Park, which we have not been on previous trips. Taking the bus was really easy. The bus stop is right across the street from the dock and it costs $1 to ride, but for $2 you get the all-day pass. If this bus stop gets too crowded you may catch the blue bus at the stop on the side of the dock, get the all day pass and ride to the end of the route, which is a couple of stops away and continue the ride back. The bus ride takes about 30 minutes with many stops in between and it's quite a nice ride.
Totem Bight Park, just beautiful!
I like this park because it is much quieter and prettier than the Saxmen Village, not as touristy. It seemed like we had the whole park to ourselves but in fact there were at least three other families riding on the bus with us.
Meeting hall
Looking out from the meeting hall.
Exterior of the meeting hall.
There is a small gift shop near the bus stop and this little area made it a nice place to relax while waiting for the bus to go back.
After coming back from Totem Bight, we went back to the ship for lunch.
The little white shack with the blue trim suppose to have the best fish burger in town but we did not try it.
After lunch we went back out and walked up to Creek Street.
Then we walked back to the dock area. It was very quiet and business was brisk. This is one of the sculptures near the promenade area.
Sailing away from Ketchikan, cold and windy.
Ah, fettucini alfredo in the cheese bowl! It's on the everyday menu.
