Embarking Carnival Panorama in Long Beach

Carnival Panorama 18-Day Transpacific Cruise Long Beach to Yokohama
Embarkation Day -- Thursday, August 22, 2024

Our check-in time for this cruise was scheduled for 12:00-12:30 so we did not have to leave too early and thought that we should be able to avoid the morning rush hour. Little did we know that we had to double our traffic time for the drive with such heavy traffic this morning. Thanks to my brother Tim, who dropped us off at the Queen Mary parking lot so we can skip that long line going into the luggage drop off area in the parking garage. For the Queen Mary parking lot, the first 10 minutes is free.

Long line that was not moving going into the drop-off area inside the parking garage. While the left side was wide opened into the Queen Mary parking lot.

From the parking lot, we walked about 5 to 8 minutes to another drop-off area where we left our bags.

We were able to go right inside the dome for check-in with a line that was moving quickly. Then we went right onto the ship for this amazing journey.

After reporting to our muster station, we had lunch at Pig and Anchor, the BBQ restaurant that provides complimentary lunch on sea days. It was much better in a relaxed atmosphere than fighting the crowds at the Lido.
Then, it was time that we could get into our stateroom 6434 on deck 6, which is at the aft of the ship. We found that this is quite a convenient location for us near the restaurants and just one deck above where many activities were scheduled.

A balcony stateroom which was nice on this trip.

Pig and Anchor over on the right with the yellow umbrellas.

Below us are the Havana suites with their own private 'yard'.
To me, one disadvantage of these was the views being blocked by the pexiglass directly outside their yard.

Our cabin has a door connecting to the next stateroom. Just a minor issue.

Very comfortable bed.

The third bed which worked out well for our son.

These bottles took up a lot of space but they won't remove them even after requesting.

Good enough spaces in the bathroom.

City of Long Beach in the aft of the ship.

Queen Mary and the Spruce Goose Dome, which is now a designated Carnival terminal.

The only warm day until we reached Japan.

Just for fun, we thought we would take a spa tour. I don't think we need to do that any more in the future.

Very nice facility!

We decided not to buy any spa package on this trip even though they gave us a $50 credit later on.

Spruce Goose dome

Lots of outdoor activities, but unfortunately we were not able to use these because of the weather.

Sail away was scheduled for 6:00, but our dining time was at 5:00, so we did not get to see the Sail Away party.
(We ended up not leaving Long Beach until sometime after 8:00 because of a medial emergency.)

Entertainment staff tried starting the fun but interrupted by the continuous public announcements.

First dinner on Panorama. This is an Emeril featured appetizer, crawfish roll. Very good!

Duck roll

Game Hen

Emeril's BBQ salmon

Food in the dining room was good. I was surprised at how the no-sugar added desserts turned out, they were excellent!

This ended our first day on this ship. We will have three sea days before reaching our first port of Ketchikan.
