Taipei Day 1 and 2

(Please read this post from the bottom up.)

Oyster omelette again, with pork rib soup. After this, we decided that we had enough to eat and walked over to the MRT station (Jiantan劍潭) and took the MRT back to the hotel.

Only 1/3 of the piece is showing outside the bag. It was hot, crispy, and delicious! Only $55NTD (less than $2.00USD).

First thing first, must try the famous BIG fried chicken steak.  "Chicken Steak that is bigger than your face".  This is actually a one-piece chicken meat. This one is right outside of the indoor night market.

The new night market is now indoor in the basement of this building.

At the end of the tour the bus dropped us off at the Shilin Night Market.

This is the "Geisha's Head", not as popular as the "Queen's Head".

When we came here years ago, it was a nice and quiet fishing village. Now, it is a big tourist attraction.

With the thousands of tourists coming from China everyday, Taiwan is benefiting greatly economically.

Next we went to Yeh Liu to see the rock formation. We gave up walking over to the popular "Queen's Head". Look at the line of people waiting to have their pictures taken with the 'Queen'.

Shrine of the Martyr--changing of the guards

There were about 20 people in our group, mostly tourists from Hong Kong, a couple from Beijing, a couple from Malaysia, and then us. The tour guide spoke some hard-to-understand Cantonese.

We took a one-day tour to Jiufen for $700NTD pp (plus $100 tips for the guide and bus driver). First stop--Pineapple Cake shop.

Breakfast included in the room rate. French toast sandwich, hard boiled egg, and coffee.

MOR's sushi was $101.00 NTD

After spending time in Tainan, we planned on going to Taipei for a few days before going back to the US.
