London

cont. Carnival Splendor 2008--Genoa to Dover

7/11/2008
We got up early this morning and walked towards the river bank. We were making good time but unfortunately when we reached London Eye we discovered that we have forgotten to put the battery back into my camera. We just had to go back to Travelodge and start all over again. To save time and energy we decided to take a taxi to Trafalgar Square. There, we purchased the HOHO bus tickets from the Original Tour Bus which was suppose to be 22 pounds pp. But we got a little discount and paid 20 pounds pp instead. Then we went to the office of the Original Tour Bus right at the Square and waited for the walking tour to start at 10:30am. This walking tour was included in the ticket price.

The guide knew exactly where to take us at certain time. He walked very fast too. We practically had to run to catch up with him.

Buckingham Palace

She was very cool, and friendly.

At the end of the tour we went back to the Tour Bus office and purchased their Fish and Chips tickets for 3 pounds each and also their Afternoon Tea tickets, also for 3 pounds each. These were excellent deals comparing to the cost of things in London. After getting the tickets we walked to Sherlock Holmes Pub and traded our tickets in for a delicious lunch. (Usually the Fish and Chips cost 7 pounds.)

It started to rain after lunch, so we went to take the HOHO bus tour.

I think this is Picadilly area.

Back to Trafalgar Square

We accidentally came upon Chinatown.

Time for afternoon tea at the basement of St. Martin on the Field. It took us a while to find the door way to the place because they were doing some remodeling work there. Again, for 3 pounds each, we enjoyed a very nice afternoon tea.

We were a bit tired and the weather was not helping so we decided to go back to the hotel. We took the yellow line and got back to the London Bridge/Southwark area. Tried to go to Burrough Market but they were all closed by then. For dinner, we just bought some sandwiches and sushi from Mark and Spencer to take back to our hotel room. Had a relaxing evening watching TV while enjoying our dinner.
Travelodge was surprising quiet even with the railway right outside our window.
